There are many essential oils that have been used over the years which are used in the cold and flu arena.



Echinacea is an immune wonder herb. Numerous studies have shown that Echinacea contains substances that boost the immune system, reduce pain and inflammation and has strong antiviral and antibacterial effects. Studies have shown that when taken at the first sign of a cold or flu, the length and severity of the illness will be reduced.


Olive leaf extract has many health benefits but is traditionally used to relieve the symptoms of colds and flu due to its antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral and anti-inflammatory effects. It is also a great herb to help reduce fevers. It has shown to have an antioxidant capacity almost double green tea and 400% higher than Vitamin C. Olive leaf is naturally rich in selenium, zinc, iron and beta-carotene which are nutrients important for a healthy immune system.


Astragalus root extract protects and support the immune system. It is antibacterial, antiviral and has anti-inflammatory actions making it highly indicated for colds, flu and upper respiratory infections. Astragalus is called an adaptogen, meaning it helps protect and support the body against various stresses, including physical, mental, or emotional stress.


Pau D’arco is native to South America, where it has been used to treat a wide range of influenza symptoms such as pain, inflammation and fever. Research has shown that an active ingredient in this herb, lapachol has shown to kill several bacteria, fungi, viruses and parasites.


Highly indicated for coughs, liquorice root extract acts as a soothing, coating agent and as an expectorant, helping to remove excess phlegm from the respiratory system.


Marshmallow leaf and root are used for pain and swelling (inflammation) of the mucous membranes that line the respiratory tract. They are also used for dry cough, inflammation of the lining of the stomach, diarrhea, stomach ulcers, constipation, urinary tract inflammation, and stones in the urinary tract.


Roman chamomile is used for various digestive disorders including indigestion,nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, and intestinal gas (flatulence) due to mental stress. Women use it for morning sickness and painful menstrual periods. It is also used for pain and swelling of the lining of the nose and mouth, sinus pain (sinusitis), and joint (rheumatic) disorders
